Associate Professor Joanne Blannin is the Chair of ATTEN, based at Monash University in Melbourne, Australia. She is an expert in digital education, with over 20 years of international experience. Her research explores how emerging technologies, particularly AI and immersive and Virtual Reality, can create adaptive learning environments that support diverse needs of both teachers and students. She designs and studies theory-informed, pedagogically driven platforms, equipping educators with innovative tools and insights for inclusive, future-ready education. Dr. Blannin bridges research and practice through her teaching, publications, and leadership, helping educators navigate and harness the potential of digital innovation in real-world classrooms.

Dr Jason Zagami is a senior lecturer at Griffith University whose research examines the integration of artificial intelligence, immersive technologies, and digital ecosystems in initial teacher education. His work employs systems analysis, design-based, consensus and self-study methodologies to explore how AI and extended reality environments can enhance pedagogical innovation, ethical governance, and teacher professional practice. A long-standing advocate for technologies education in Australia, he has contributed to national curriculum development, accreditation processes, and teacher professional learning initiatives. Dr Zagami is the research chair of the Australian Technologies Teacher Educators Network (ATTEN) and has been the past president of the Australian Council for Computers in Education (ACCE), and the Queensland Society for Information Technology in Education (QSITE).

Matt Bower is a professor in the School of Education at Macquarie University, who specialises in the innovative use of technology for learning purposes. He is particularly interested in how contemporary technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, augmented reality, web-based tools, virtual worlds, social networking, immersive virtual reality 3D design & printing software and so on can be most effectively used to support cognitive development and collaborative learning. Matt has over 100 peer reviewed publications in the area of technology-enhanced learning design, teacher education, and computing education that have been cited over 10,000 times according to Google Scholar. He has led over thirty funded grant projects and participated in many other research initiatives (total funding exceeds $3M). Matt is rated in the top 1% of educational researchers according to the Stanford Elsevier top scientists list.

Martin’s professional life is broad. From K–12 education, to his current position as lecturer in Initial Teacher Education at the University of New England, he has designed, evaluated and taught courses in Science, Mathematics, Computing, Design & Technology and worked with schools and their jurisdictions nationally as curriculum mentor for the Australian Curriculum Assessment and Reporting Authority He is Secretary of the ICT educators NSW professional association, a member of the Australian Computing Society’s Education Board, past President of the Australian Council for Computers in Education, a recovering Director of IT, and a serial digital tinkerer and thinkerer

Dr Natalie McMaster is a Lecturer in Technologies Education in initial teacher education programs at the University of the Sunshine Coast. She is also the Communications Chair of the Australian Technologies Teacher Educators Network (ATTEN). Her research focuses on Technologies education, gender equity, and STEM engagement in primary schooling. As lead of the MindSET-do project and contributor to national studies on STEM awareness, she investigates how teacher education can better prepare future educators to deliver integrated STEM and Technologies learning. Her work bridges policy and practice, strengthening early STEM pathways and supporting equitable participation through innovative, evidence-informed approaches to ITE and technologies pedagogy.

Dr Thembi Mason is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Education at RMIT University and the Learning and Teaching Lead for ATTEN. She has extensive experience across secondary, vocational and higher education, and is recognised for her leadership in digital pedagogies, technologies education and curriculum innovation. Her work focuses on supporting student agency, digital literacy and creative problem-solving through well-designed learning experiences. Thembi has held key learning and teaching leadership roles at RMIT, including Associate Dean (Education) and GTPA Lead. She collaborates widely with schools, industry and national networks and is currently engaged in research exploring how technologies enhance learning and teaching across educational contexts.
